Meet the Artist
I’m Steph Zerbe, illustrator and surface pattern designer. My work is rooted in the quiet beauty of nature and the charm of storied places, brought to life through soft florals, expressive linework, and thoughtful, narrative-driven design. I create art to invite a sense of calm, connection, and everyday wonder into the spaces we live, gather, and create in.
My Creative Process
Every collection begins with a spark - a walk in the garden, a vintage textile found in a small-town shop, a botanical study from an old field guide. I translate those impressions into loose watercolor sketches, inked florals, or layered illustrations, then refine and digitize them into seamless patterns and motifs. My process blends traditional techniques with modern tools, allowing me to preserve the soul and story of hand-drawn work while preparing it for fabric, wallpaper, and home goods applications.
My Background
Before shifting my focus to surface pattern design, I spent years designing stamp sets and illustrations for the paper crafting industry - work that taught me the power of thoughtful, versatile artwork and how design connects with people on a deeply personal level. My designs have been used by makers, card artists, and crafters around the world, and this experience continues to shape the storytelling and functionality behind every pattern I create today.
Looking Ahead
My work sits at the intersection of illustration, storytelling, and functional design. My dream is to see my patterns on textiles and home products - from fabric and wallpaper to table linens and stationery. Most of all, I hope my art brings a bit of beauty and meaning into the everyday moments of the people who live with it.
